What’s New in Veeam Availability Suite 9.5 Update 3

Veeam has released new update for Veeam Availability Suite 9.5 and the new update is not just a bug fix update or functionality improvements. Veeam Availability Suite Update 3 adding new functionalities to both availability suite’s components.

Unlike previous versions, the new versions added new functionality to protecting and monitoring both physical and virtual environments.

 

Veeam Backup & Replication 9.5 Update 3

First, I want to review some new features which update 3 has been added to Veeam Backup & Replication. Veeam Backup & Replication is one of most popular backup and replication suites to protecting virtual environments and Veeam Agent was introduced for protecting physical machines.

Now, Veeam Agent is integrated to Veeam Backup & Replication. It means that customers be able to manage Veeam Agent from Veeam Backup & Replication console. So Veeam Agent deployment, create and manage physical server backup will be too easier at this new update.

Veeam Agent (Both Windows and Linux versions) will be deployed via Veeam Backup & Replication directly. Also Microsoft Windows Server Failover Clusters will be protected by new agent-based failover cluster backup jobs.

Another cool new feature is Protection Group. Protection Group be included computer added by DNS name or IP addresses or Active Directory objects such as Organization Units, groups and computer objects or a list of computers on a CSV file. The defined protection groups will be used on backup job or backup policy.

Backup Policy is another new feature, Backup Policy is actually the backup settings for deploying backup jobs on a remote location with poor connection.

The below features are added to Veeam Backup & Replication 9.5 by the new update officially:

  • Built-in agent management
  • Insider protection for Veeam Cloud Connect
  • Data location tagging
  • BM Spectrum Virtualize Integration
  • Universal Storage Integration API

In addition of the new features, the supported platforms list has been updates and the below platforms are supported now:

  • Microsoft Azure
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2017
  • Microsoft Windows 10 Fall Creators Update
  • Microsoft Windows Server 1709
  • Microsoft Windows Server Hyper-V 1709
  • VMware Cloud on Amazon AWS
  • VMware vCloud Director 9.0

Veeam ONE 9.5 Update 3

Veeam Agent is supported by Veeam ONE 9.5 Update 3 now, it means that Veeam ONE 9.5 be able to monitor physical backup job performance because both Veeam Agent Job and Veeam Agent Policies are supported to monitoring.

You can install Veeam ONE 9.5 Update 3 on a machine with Microsoft Windows Server 1709 and Microsoft SQL Server 2017.

There s two new metrics for monitoring datastores:

  • VM Used Space per Datastore
  • VM Provisioned Space per Datastore
