Microsoft Windows Server May Updates

Same as previous months, Microsoft has released updates for Windows Server and those are available via Windows Update or offline packages.

The updates are cumulative that it means, you don’t need to install the previous updates.

Windows Server 2008 R2

2018-05 Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows Server 2008 R2 for x64-based Systems (KB4103718)

  • Addresses an issue that may cause a memory leak on SMB servers after installing KB4056897 or any other recent monthly update. This leak may occur when the requested path traverses a symbolic link, a mount point, or a directory junction and the registry key is set to 1: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\LanManServer\Parameters\EnableEcp
  • Addresses an issue that may cause an error when connecting to a Remote Desktop server. For more information, see CredSSP updates for CVE-2018-0886.
  • Security updates to Internet Explorer, Windows apps, Windows kernel, Microsoft Graphics Component, Windows storage and filesystems, HTML help, and Windows Hyper-V.

Windows Server 2012

  • Addresses an issue that may cause an error when connecting to a Remote Desktop server. For more information, see CredSSP updates for CVE-2018-0886.
  • Security updates to Windows app platform and frameworks, Windows apps, Windows kernel, Microsoft Graphics Component, HTML help, and Windows storage and filesystems.

Windows Server 2012 R2

2018-05 Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows Server 2012 R2 for x64-based Systems (KB4103725)

  • Addresses an issue that prevents customers from typing Hangul correctly with Microsoft’s Korean IME in Microsoft Word Online.
  • Addresses an issue that may cause an error when connecting to a Remote Desktop server. For more information, see CredSSP updates for CVE-2018-0886.
  • Security updates to Internet Explorer, Windows apps, Windows kernel, Microsoft Graphics Component, Windows storage and filesystems, HTML help, and Windows Hyper-V.

Windows Server 2016

2018-06 Cumulative Update for Windows Server 2016 (1803) for x64-based Systems (KB4338548)

This update addresses an issue where the 2017 and 2018 versions of Intuit QuickBooks Desktop can’t run in multi-user mode on Windows 10, version 1803 devices. The QuickBooks multi-user mode service fails to start with error “Windows could not start the QuickBooksDBXX service on Local Computer.” and “Error 193: 0xc1”.
